Saleha Islam has a varied career spanning over 30 years, having started in social work, she then started training in different forms of therapeutic practice. After a few years she progressed into management in order to manage change at a strategic level and to ensure that as a Muslim woman she was seen and heard. She has worked in several different sectors including charitable, health, education and the police. She has led several organisations as CEO and is a trainer and coach as well.
She is the only female in Europe to have led a flourishing Islamic centre and was a founding trustee of an Islamic centre for sixteen years.
She has worked in senior positions for the NSPCC one of UK's leading child protection agencies. She has been trustee of several organisations and has advised women and young people on leadership working with organisations across the UK and Europe.
She is also currently part of a National mosque security advisory committee and has been an advisor to the UK government on a range of issues sitting on several task forces and governmental committees.
She has returned to therapeutic and safeguarding practice in this difficult time during the pandemic, due to the issues that individuals and families and the community is facing. Her expertise and experience spans issues related to childhood abuse, trauma, physical, psychological and emotional problems, relationship issues, mental health, anxiety, depression, self esteem, confidence, premarital and post marital counselling, intimacy and more.
She has experience of working with complex and sensitive safeguarding matters in organisations and her work so far has covered places as far as Somalia, Turkey, Bangladesh and Syria, her expertise in utilising a variety of integrative as well as eclectic practices enables her to provide her clients whether an individual or an organisation with a tailor made service that have resulted in having a transformative effect in their lives.
